ABOUT
Where it all began....
In 1996, in her mid twenties, Omanisa attended her first Reiki Healing course. Reiki is one of many healing traditions and practices from around the world that operates on the premise that there is a universal life-force energy that can be accessed for healing purposes. Rei is Japanese for "Life" and Ki means "energy", much like the Indian word Prana that yoga enthusiasts are familiar with, the Qi of Chinese herbal medicine, and the chi cultivated by martial arts practitioners.
As a new Reiki practitioner, Omanisa was delighted to discover that the energy she was channeling through to people for healing was something she could feel and see with her psychic senses as sparkling, shimmering clouds and dancing ribbons of vibrant colour. Two years later, She began sketching and reading auras, using chalks to depicts the personal Qi-fields of people from all walks of life from over the world. These colours told Omanisa a story about the personality and experiences of each person she was reading for: their habitual emotions and thought-patterns, their relationship dynamics with others, their personal history, strengths, weaknesses, gifts, talents and hidden potentials; their mindbody health and so much more.
One of the people she sketched for in those early days was a spiritual teacher and healer in Scotland, a man who predicted that Omanisa would one day have her own "School of Colours". In the decades to come, this phrase became a tongue-in-cheek joke between Omanisa and her husband, one she never really took seriously until recently. On her 50th birthday Stephen surprised Omanisa by gifting her with a metal placard to hang over her clinic door with the words "Om's School of Colours".
Naturally, Omanisa's friends, family, clients and students collectively began referring to her teaching programs as "Om's School of Colours".
So far, we have four courses available, along with the Apprenticeship and Retreats. In the past few years, course delivery has been via weekly Zoom classes, with a group of students travelling together through the curriculum. Lesson material was posted out weekly and/or hosted on Facebook or Om's website. Local students occasionally meet together in person, with the Retreat being the ultimate celebration of our connection and the wisdom learned and shared.
Now, we have Podia, a course delivery platform, which we've integrated into our website. We're in the process of transferring all of the course material over, and making it more concise, with extra video training added. This year, in 2024, we're aiming to go evergreen, starting in March, with students able to begin anytime, and work at their own pace. The weekly classes are becoming group coaching sessions students can drop into and out of as needed.
In the years to come Omanisa is hoping to create a dedicated, certified Aura Colour Therapy course to compliment the existing courses and the Apprenticeship. The Aura Colour Therapy course will provide in depth training on all of the 88 Aura Colours in Omanisa's system, helping students:
read/perceive all 88 aura colours using psychic perception.
understand the personality traits, emotions, attitudes, challenges, strengths and patterns typically associated with each colour.
learn how to use the aura cards to counsel others and help them develop mindbody self-awareness.
use psychic intent and a broad range of healing tools and techniques to resolve challenging Aura Colour frequencies.
To help us accomplish this mammoth task, we are considering developing a subscription service where we send out the first draft for each lesson as Om writes them, one per week. If you're interested in being part of this pilot program and accessing this early draft for a fraction of the cost of the final course, please let us know.
While the Reiki course Om studied in 1996 was the beginning of her journey as a colour healer helping others, she had already spent ten years prior to this using daily colour-based meditation and creative visualisation to heal and care for herself, so she was by no means a beginner. Two years after she began this practise, at age 16, she was taken on a vision-quest by a First Nations elder, where she had a vision that predicted her purpose in life: to be a visionary artist and healer who can see and work with aura colours! (see "Om's teenage years" on the About Om page for more about this story).
